A big part of the reason for Brazil’s success this year has been the emergence of Neymar, who has been a revelation at the back.
He has scored eight goals and assisted another eight, which has put him ahead of the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the all-time list.
With Neymar now out of the side, the Brazil team has gone from strength to strength.
The last time the squad was in Rio was the World Cup semi-final in 2014.
Neymar scored against Germany, who were without Neymar’s former teammate Dani Alves, who was also injured.
“The new players will be key for Brazil in Brazil 2018,” said the team’s technical director, Julio Cabreiro.
“We have to learn to use Neymar in a more creative way.”
The Brazilian team was expected to play a lot of attacking football, but Neymar has found the back of the net twice in the past two matches.
Brazil also played an extremely cautious brand of football in Brazil 2014, with just seven shots and only five shots on target.
There is no doubt that Neymar is a huge part of Brazil’s future, and there is no denying that he is a talented footballer, but his form has not been up to par.
Neymars form was good in 2014, but it has not kept up the pace in 2015.
Ney has now only scored one goal in five matches.
